Biography

Le Van Khoa was born June 10, 1933 in Can-Tho at the delta of Mekong River in South Vietnam. A war refugee, he set foot on American soil in May of 1975. He has written music in many genres and has to his credit over 600 compositions and arrangements. He has produced numerous arrangements of Vietnamese folk and popular songs for voice and orchestra, arrangements that have been used extensively by the Ngan Khoi Chorus and the Vietnamese American Philharmonic Orchestras. Le Van Khoa has also written countless articles on music and hosts a weekly radio show called “Music in Our Life” on Little Saigon Radio.

Le Van Khoa is a self-taught award winning photographer who began studying Photography in his early twenties. In 1968, he Co-founded the Artistic Photography Association and helped to produce three photography books. The Artistic Photography Association was in the top ten of the Al Thani International Photo Competition, and won a Gold Medal in the category of “Best Print Clubs” in the Trierenberg Super Circuit in Austria. Le Van Khoa was the first Vietnamese photographer to have a photography exhibition at the US Congress building. He has also taught Photography at Salisbury State College in Maryland between 1976 and 1977.
